The 36th Korea International Medical & Hospital Equipment Show (KIMES 2021), the largest medical industry exhibition in Korea, has come to a close after a successful four days. Thanks to the active support of the government, organizations, and the medical industry, many visitors came to visit despite COVID-19.

In particular, the absence of KIMES in 2020 caused an accumulation of the need for medical information, and the heightened attention towards the medical environment due to COVID-19 factored for the high proportion of medical personn3el among visitors.

Under the theme of “Link to the New Era”, KIMES 2021 proposed a new direction for the medical environment and industry in the New Normal Era, hosting exhibits including AI, VR, medical robots, Smart Healthcare, Big Data, as well as advanced medical devices reflecting the trend of convergence between different industries.

Since the spread of COVID-19 in January 2020, this is the first exhibition to be held in the 1st and 3rd floors of COEX, occupying Halls A/B/C/D, as well as the Grand Ballroom, covering a total area of 40,000 sqm. KIMES proved its reputation as Korea's trademark medical device exhibition as it hosted 1,208 companies across 33 countries and a total of 52,362 visitors.

In the business environment that has changed due to the spread of COVID-19, KIMES has adapted as a hybrid exhibition by incorporating untact content including untact video conferences, webinars, online video export consultations, and an online livestream channel.

KOTRA paired up with the Global Medical Equipment Plaza Online (GMEP) and organized an online video export consultation conference, matching 250 domestic companies with 550 foreign companies to support the foreign entry of domestic manufacturers. Medical Korea 2021 simultaneously held conferences, seminars and briefing sessions, exhibition halls, and business export consultations online and offline (COEX Grand Ballroom).

In particular, the official KIMES YouTube Live channel “KIMES Live!” was operated during the exhibition to support the domestic and overseas marketing of exhibitors by introducing the exhibitors' advanced medical devices in both Korean and English in real time. Even after the exhibition is over, we plan to edit the live video content for each exhibitor and post it on the official KIMES YouTube channel for exhibitors to utilize.

The organizer prepared a quarantine solution in compliance with the government's social distancing guidelines, for which the active cooperation of both exhibitors and visitors allowed for a safe exhibition, as well as recognition as a leading exhibition in terms of operation and quarantine measures.
